The Lord Street Bridge project, addresses community concerns regarding youth gathering in the area, which had caused feelings of intimidation among local residents. After consultations between the local police and residents, a collaborative solution was developed.
Secure flower beds have been installed on the bridge to deter loitering while enhancing the space’s aesthetic appeal. These flower beds were part-funded by the local community, who continue to maintain them, fostering a sense of ownership and pride in the area.
Additionally, the local police are actively engaging with the youth to provide positive alternatives, including divisional activities designed to foster community connections.
